Having further researched the matter, I have discovered that the name of Ford Motor Company's deluxe model in the 1959 model year was not "Galaxy", but "Galaxie".

All those brilliant engineers and none of them knew how to consult a dictionary for the correct spelling of a fairly common word. Maybe if Ford had hired an English major or two....
