Stilly, I usually fish at The Fort Pickens area of Gulf Island National Seashore. It's on the same barrier island as Pensacola Beach, but all the way at the western end, where the various bays and inland waterways around Pensacola empty into the Gulf of Mexico. Sometimes I fish on the beach, sometimes from the fishing pier, which is on the inland side of the island.

The derelict structure in the foreground is the old fishing pier which was severely damaged by Hurricane Erin in 1995. It was originally a loading dock when Fort Pickens was an active military installation. It was repurposed as a public pier when the fort was decommissioned. The National Park Service decided it was not repairable after Erin, so they built the new one. I don't know why they left the remnants of the old one standing, but it sure gives big fish something to cut your line on. The lighthouse and water tower in the background are on Naval Air Station, Pensacola.

I rarely use a bobber. I usually use free-swimming live Spanish sardines which I catch in a cast net.
