Indeed the disintegration ray is an X ray through Gamma ray narrow beam weapon capable of carving out 4 mile deep canyons. However the vector analysis proves it is aimed nowhere near Earth. For my money I would guess it is merely target practice by the Vogorn, not to be confused with the Vogons. -sigh of relief-
