Of course it's a Folk Song, and a very well travelled and beautiful Folk Song You sing it very well Dick. It's origins were probably 'Non Folk' which matters not one jot. However the point I was making (to Jim) was that (arguably) less beautiful creations should not be excluded from the Roud index just because of their origins. Also that a Folklorists or indexers job is to be non judgmental, which I agree is a rotten job. All the rest is subjectivity. Not a crime of course, and not relevant to any singer, be he or she Traditional or Revivalist. A silly argument about definitions just clouds the waters.
