A serious thought from moi. Thanks to Steve Latimer (who loaned me some CDs, so I didn't have to listen to my scratchy records) I've been playing a LOT of Dylan the last week, and one thing simply blows me away. NONE of the material is dated...and that's after forty years. The song "Oxford Town" (one I'd almost completely forgotten about) is so well constructed, I could hardly believe it. Once again, humour and irony injected seemlessly into a tough story.
Bukka White's "Fixin' to Die". The influence is there, but he simply makes it his OWN song. I could go on and on.
Weirdest thing of all: The first two albums are so out of tune I could hardly believe that there actually WAS a producer in the studio....but for some reason, it didn't bother me....and I'm a tuning freak.
