We got the AARP supplemental plan for my mother-in-law, and we were very happy with it over a number of years.

I have the Blue Cross-Blue Shield Federal Employee Plan through my government retirement. It's supposed to be superior, but I dunno. No doubt it's good, but it ain't cheap (contrary to Urban Legend, government employees and retirees, including elected officials, DO pay quite a bit for insurance). The AARP plan seemed to be cheaper and just as good.
