I knew Don from seeing and meeting him in Les Cousins and other salubrious London spots. When I ran the Coach and Horses on Kew Green in the late 60's I booked him, and the week he appeared, Rosie was No 3 in the charts. Well I never had such a big audience before, or since, and I made so much money that I paid him more than the agreed fee. he was a lovely bloke.
