Thanks Joe. I discussed this in my article "Borrowed Tunes and Words" in the Feb/March issue of NW HOOT. The tune is from "Bendemeer’s Stream" by Thomas Moore (1779-1852) who borrowed the tune from an earlier Irish air. The recording by the Ferryboat Musicians, which you posted above, is much better than that by Charlie King. I don't see how Charlie King gets copyright when it is Thomas Moore's tune and Lu Mitchell's words.
