I'm looking closer at the details of this situation in an earlier century.
The word "bourgeois" has more weight now.
This word seems to classify
not only gender and age, but station or class.

A 'tween or teen from the most modest of circumstances
probably got called all manner of other names,
but I suppose "backfisch" was not one of them.
