I was once turned down for a folk club booking because of my guitar which is finished in the colors of the Irish flag, green white and orange. The booker said it would detract from the “gravitas” of my performance in her club. I responded that blind members of the audience wouldn’t be able to hear the colors, but no joy. 35 years on, I still get asked why I have Mexican flag painted on my guitar.
