I've read that Japanese-born folk who have lived in the US for many years grow much taller, and that their children are every bit as tall as their European-origin friends and neighbours.

It's sad isn't it that people's stature may be due to deprivation and malnourishment, while their appearance has formerly been ascribed to their ethnicity and genetics?

I have to add that all my husband's family are very very black, which I find extremely attractive. So was he until he'd been in UK for about ten years and I noticed he was getting paler. He's now a much lighter colour, although still quite dark of course.
