Thread Name: Lyr Req: Heaven Bound Gold (McClendon Bros)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Heaven Bound Gold (McClendon Bros)
I found this on an album titled Classic Field Recordings. The song entry says "Lil' Dave Thompson - Heaven Bound Blues," by McClendon Brothers with Georgia Dell
I'll just type what I hear on the first line - the rest you can figure out. This may be all wrong, but it's what I hear.
- Want this world to plainly see, there ain't no strength in talkin' to me.
- I don’t know but I’ve been told, streets up there are paved with gold
- When the angels come for me, I’m gonna let this whole world be
- When I lay me down to die, little darling don’t you cry
- I don’t you want to run no booze, I all want is sing you the blues
- I made this song, it may not rhyme, sing it the most part of the time....
