Just heard it for first time ever on My Generation-Australia-60s, 70s,Hits,Oldies. Went looking for lyrics and ended up here. Sounds very much in style of an old sea shanty. Will send to an amateur authority on sea shanties to see if he is familiar with it or perhaps some much earlier shanty from which it may have perhaps been developed.
