This is a problem that Damian Le Bas mentions in his book (linked to above). His looks and fair hair do not make him seem a true Romany but his heritage and his manner may not be that of many Roms but I have heard him talk about his relationship with many Kent & Sussex families. It is sad because if the travellers turning their back on him, then they are ignoring a committed and articulate advocate for their cause.
