There are many who believe W. T. McGonagall was an unwitting undercover agent for the Vogon Constructor Fleet. While nobody has suggested that he was an actual Vogon, there are some who suspect he was kidnapped as a toddler and raised by Vogons, thereby having the Vogon poetic aesthetic imprinted onto his tender young brain.

There are others who say this theory is total hogwash, that McGonagall was merely a bad poet, and that it was Rod McKuen who was kidnapped by the Vogons.
