Went a few times a few years ago. There did seem to be sessions (and concerts) in various pubs as well as the events in main arena. Plenty going on. I lost interest when they tried to get boats to book spaces in advance (they may have dropped this now). I also get the impression that the change to FAB rather than Folk and Boat has resulted in less folk and more 'pop' music. Don't know for sure. Details, as you say, are hard to come by.
