The rest of the matter first created returned to energy and a residue of transparent matter that no longer interacts with normal matter and only weakly with itself - except by gravity. We call this dark matter today and is naturally more abundant than normal matter. Dark matter is like the limbs and branches of a tree that visible matter clings to like leaves. This universe really does look like a glowing sponge.
