In the 50s the major non-Anglophone immigrant group in NZ was the Dutch. I did once meet a guy who was convinced the Dutch were out to get him. He was a patient in the mental hospital I briefly worked at. He also slept with the bedclothes over his face to stop people dropping germs in his nose and was terrified of touching the nursing staff because they were made of copper, he was made of zinc, and he could get corroded away by an electrochemical reaction. Most New Zealanders would think that's typical of xenophobes.
