Many regulars at Whitby book holiday cottages. These are in serious short supply - you can only take over someone else's regular booking if it's left to you in their will!Don't let me put you off, though. Whitby Folk Week (or Wetby Soak Week - the weather isn't always brilliant) is one of the premier festivals in the country, hundreds and hundreds of events and the best fringe in the country (world?).

For inn-type accommodation you could try the White Horse and Griffen or The Endeavour (run by our friends John and Rosie - more folkies from Hull).

Might I also mention Sea Fever - Hull's International Shanty Festival (17-19 August). Although this is in my home town (and paid for by my employer) it is probably the best shanty festival in the country. Let me know if you want more details. And if you tell us what you want out of Whitby, you can rest assured that the Yorkshire 'Catters (from recent evidence the highest concentration of 'Catters in the known universe) will rally round with recommendations.
