This may sound sacrilege but why not write a few new verses to Waltzing Matlida to make it more anthem-worthy? Of course you'll want to keep that marvelous refrain "Who'll come a waltzing Matilda with me." which, to this Yank anyway, captures the spirit of the Australian people.
