Did it have a Compton Cube? They invented that for the very lowest register - it was a gigantic ocarina with linked keyed flaps. The trick worked because you only ever need to play one note at a time down there. I've got the patent drawing on my ocarina webpage. The ocarina museum in Budrio would want it if it can be rescued.
