Got a ton of family round, four generations of us. Eleven biggies and our beautiful grandson. I made two massive cottage pies (lowest common denominator grub), which we had with cauli, carrots and northern peas*, and Mrs Steve made two huge trifles using my last year's frozen raspberries. Ridiculous food for such a hot day but how were we to know! They ate every scrap, not one forkful scraped into the bin, and a very jolly time was had by all. And Liverpool won 2-0 at Cardiff to boot!

*Dave'll like this. I made them with a Morrisons' bag of frozen peas meant for mushy but held back at the soft bullet stage, unmushed just, just like wot my mum served in her chippy sixty years ago. My mum can't stand these new-fangled "garden pea jobs" (heheh) and I was dead chuffed that she gave her seal of approval to my Morrisons cheat effort.
