I've posted this before, I may well post this in the future, Margret Thatcher waa the first UK politician to deal with the fact that a post empire GB was over industrialised. When we had an empire we had a captive market. A market to which we could supply and no one else could. When we lost the empire we lost that captive market and we had no one to sell to. We had too much production and no one to sell to. Maggie. bless her, tried to address this.
