Count me as a dissenter, I am afraid. It was enjoyable entertainment, but no more. I see no great unifying theme as there is in LOTR, and simply putting all the characters in Endgame does not really count as more than an opportunity taken to me. If you compare say Xavier and Magneto from the other franchise, there is great moral ambiguity based on the extent to which you can trust other people. While there was a hint of that in Thanos, it was very fleeting and basically he was just a straightforward villain.

Then there was the whole business with the stones - it was clear what you had to do to get the soul stone, but apart from completing the set, what did it actually do? Or the reality stone: used once (as far as I recall), but then never actually used when it would have altered the battles entirely.

In the scene in the halls of Asgard, I immediately was struck by how they has used Durham Cathedral as the base for the CGI. Nothing wrong in that as such, but it is strong evidence that I was not involved in the plot or engrossed in the characterisations. By contrast, the Harry Potter films used Anwick castle, and while I know that as well as I know Durham Cathedral, it did not distract from the plot/action.
