I sowed wild rocket in my garden years ago and it now pops us everywhere without any attention from me. I use a Jamie Oliver pasta recipe, with lemon, prawns and chilli, to which chopped rocket leaves are added near the end with more sprinkled on top. Gorgeous. I can't envisage a leafy salad without its spicy hit but I'm careful not to include too much stalk. I don't understand how that bagged, washed rocket that supermarkets sell can be so tasteless and flaccid. I won't buy it. In fact, bought bagged salad leaves are never good. Another delightful "weed" that flourishes unsolicited is chives. They are my go-to for a hasty but delicious potato salad made with just warm spuds in their skins, preferably Jerseys, Hellmann's and my snipped chives. I make huge bowlfuls for the assembled company but it always disappears rapidly. Epic with a barbie. Just don't be mean with the mayo, that's all.
