Obviously some electronic parts are malfunctioning, either in your MIDI keyboard or in your computer. To make sure, you can try the keyboard on another computer.

First aid: apply a vaccuum cleaner to the slots. Second: unplug, open the device and brush the dust off everything.

If you need a MIDI keyboard only for input to NWC, it can be much cheaper than the one PFR recommends.
