Mom!

When whoever created the qwerty keyboard decided to put the question mark and the slash on the same key, why did they decide to have the question mark be the one requiring use of the shift key? Shouldn't the more commonly used symbol be the one not requiring the shift key? Did they really think people use "/" more often than "?"?

If it weren't for needing to use a bit of HTML here on the Mudcat, I'd never use "/" at all.
