Thread Name: Post tragedy songs
Subject: RE: Post tragedy songs
here is something obviously based on the australian song..i don't like when people do this and i don't know if they would hate me doing this...should put a new tune and chorus to it. couldn't help it...just jumped on to it.
in english..

We fled the persecution churches had us in their grip
We gathered our provisions and staggered on the ship
We prospered on the Hudson were the sturdiest of men
And would sometimes get a longing to see Leiden once again

I am a migrant worker i’m the owner of the bank
I’m a doctor a policeman and my parents are to thank
They came in stealth and darkness and crossed the rio grande
And raised their many children to love and serve this land

I am an old welsh miner digging deep into the ground
When the cages bring us to the top nobody wants us round
We are homely we are dirty but our hearts can still be stirred
Some day we’ll be in office and our voices will be heard

I was born on this plantation and my family all was lost
And for many generations we have paid a deadly cost
They say that we’re genteel but I say we’re just damn poor
Some day we’ll find the silver and I know that for sure

We’re the ones who walked with joseph on that long and dusty road
We’re the keepers of the salmon We’re the breakers of the code
We’re cherokee and metis we’re comanche we’re chinook
They took our lands and rivers but that’s not all they took

My people were evicted and some were bought and sold
My brain has brought me silver And my beauty is my gold
I ’m arcadian and cajun i am creole and quadroon
One day we’ll all be equal and that day can’t come too soon
