The essence of folk music was always audience participation, regardless of whether that audience was hundreds or three folk in a bar; and participation didn't only mean beltin' oot the choruses, but sharing the feelings of the singer or performer....Ive heard wee drunk men bringing a rowdy pub to silence and many to tears by what they projected in the way of real honest tae god music.
