Four things, Al...

1) I didn’t want the first Referendum, I don’t want a second Referendum. The issue was far too important, and far too divisive, to leave it to a largely badly-informed, propagandised, partisan public. We have a system of Representative Democracy, we elect Members of Parliament to make informed decisions on matters of such huge national importance, and it's those MPs who should have dealt with the question on our behalf. What I want is the revocation of A50, and an all-party team set up to carry out a thorough study of the EU and our part in it, and to report back to Parliament for our elected representatives to decide whether we Leave or Remain.

2) I’ve re-read my two posts from today, and I see nothing ‘nasty’, just unpleasant, hard truths that Leavers don’t want to hear, and I’ve deliberately been very careful not to refer to ‘Brexshit’ Or ‘Brexshitters’, and to refer to them as ‘Leavers’ in deference to your feelings which I know are hurt by those epithets.

3) Are you denying that Farage’s poster of a queue of Syrian refugees who were actually in Slovenia wasn’t racist? Or that May’s ‘Immigrants Go Home’ vans weren’t racist? Or that the abuse of foreigners in our streets in the period after the Referendum wasn’t racist?

4) In my experience, the worst abuse comes from Leavers. On this forum, and on social media, the worst offenders by far are the ‘Sore Winners’, the Leavers who think that the 16.5 million who voted Remain have no right to continue the fight against what they perceive as an act of national self-harm. I don’t know of any Remainer who has made death-threats against Leavers, telling them they’ve committed ‘treason’, that they are ‘traitors who should be arrested, marched out, and shot at dawn’, yet that has happened to me on a number of occasions, and I’ve seen it all over SM, along with Leavers being told to “Fuck off and live in Europe, we don’t want you here”, and other hate-filled rhetoric. There’s nastiness on both sides, Al, you just have to be prepared to see and acknowledge it.
