I am part of a religion that has helped me a lot over the years and has a lot of good in it. It also has views on a few things that I vehemently disagree with. I have a choice - do I throw out the baby with the bathwater and leave my church? Or do I stick to my own beliefs and try to change the church in my own small way - just by being vocal about what I believe in? And for those who think that it will never change, look at the issue of contraceptives in the catholic church. A few decades back, most catholics toed the church line on this issue. Now most catholics find the very idea laughable. And I don't think it will be long before the top dogs change their minds too. A lot of the older folks in my church may be against homosexuality, but none of the younger ones are.I don't know if this goes any way towards answering the original query, but its how I feel.
