Barry, I don't know about the French.The SONG that I know of as Oran Do Cheap Breatuinn, was written by Dan Alex MacDonald to the tune Bithibh Aotrom Togaibh Fonn. This is an old tune, as far as I can tell. The Bard MacLean, in the early 1800s, wrote a song called the Gaelic Ball. I have all three of these lyrics at my web-site.
