When I first read this thread, I thought we were talking about the English civil war, some 200 years before this one. The interesting thing is that I was an English Civil War reenactor in a past life. We sang a wide variety of songs from Puritan hymns to Cavalier marching songs to rugby songs. One of the songs we sang very frequently seems to be a parody on The Battle Cry of Freedom. The chorus went:Hurrah for Mary! Hurrah for the lamb!
Hurrah for the little boy, who didn't give a little bit
And everywhere that Mary went, the lamb was sure to go
Shouting out the battle cry of FreedomCheers!
