The exact cause of the tragedy is still unclear. The focus seems to have shifted from a Bulgarian smuggling ring to an Irish one. Freezing people to death in an airtight container is an extremely callous way of murdering people. Perhaps had the customs inspection, demanded by exit from schengen, been more thorough perhaps this tragedy might have been avoided.
