Have you ever noticed that the numbers on calculator keypads and telephone keypads are arranged differently? Have you ever wondered why?

Well, back in the days when touch-tone dialing was being introduced, AT&T's engineers realized that proficient users of office calculators could enter a phone number so fast that the generated tones would "step on each other" resulting in incomplete calls. So, they decided to move the 1,2,3 row from the bottom of the keypad to the top and the 7,8,9 row from the top to the bottom to slow office machine hot-dogs down to manageable speeds.
