Not a myth, just amusing history now.

And FWIW it has been said, and I have never had it contradicted that:

In Welsh hospitals you can have a coloured wristband to tell the nurses you want to converse in Welsh, and a different one to inform you only speak in English, and a colour for implying you "DON'T CARE AS LONG AS THE NURSE CAN DO THE JOB"

There is also a feeling that the insistence from the Welsh parliament on nurses who speak Welsh get preference for employment, that it is weakening the quality and staffing levels. Nurses who move there with their spouses who can't find gainful employment, exist. And a small number (you can't get the stats anyway) is no excuse.
