"Jim, this thread is about the current state of folk music in the UK. "
If you can't learn to sing centuries old songs (that that what folk songs are folks) from singers who took them in with their mothers milk and you can't articulate what you mean by folk you haven't gone anywhere and you aint going anywhere (as the decline in punters and clubs indicates)

Give what a try Dave - Neil Young, folk heavy metal, insipid limp-wristed singing of navel gazing non folk songs... all of which have been put up as alternatives to Walter - et al.... no thanks very much
If you take on the name of something as specific as folk song than, out of common decency, if nothing else, you need to take responsibility for what you have taken on or you need to get off the pot

Or differences here have nothing to do with taste - or they shouldn't have
They have everything to do with integrity
You can't even justify your (obviously now) hostile takeover of the folk song title by dignifying what you have replaced it with with a description
Don't you dare try making me the bad guy in all this
You (who argue here) don't number more than ten, yet there ate many thousands of people who left the scene because of your hi-jacking it - all of whom were quite clear what they meant by folk song
Like it or not - you are a tiny and rapidly-diminishing minority - you took over a long-occupied chair and are still ejecting the former occupants - Walter being the latest
How about responding to some of these accusations with real arguments instead of insults and excuses fellers
Yours in rapidly diminishing anticipation
Jim
