When I started teaching in east London I swore to myself that I would never let a racist remark pass in my classroom. This is exactly the kind of thing I had in mind:

"They are illiterate, they are violent!" They, these people, etc, broadbrush and wholesale, unconditional. Absolute trademark of racist hate speech.
