Legend has it that one Christmas morning when Santa was just putting his feet up for a cup of tea and a well earned rest, there was a knock at the door. Rather annoyed, Santa put down his tea cup and shuffled wearily to the door. It was one of his team of fairies that delivered Christmas trees with a free over one shoulder.

"I couldn't deliver this one, Santa" she said. "What do you want me to do with it?"

and from that day on, there has been a fairy on top of every Christmas tree.
