Remember that in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, "Belgium" is the ultimate off-color word on all planets save one. Earth is the only planet where the inhabitants are so clueless as to have named a country after a word the rest of the galaxy finds horribly offensive.

And as far as the lime thing goes, I suspect some genius decided that since lime is good in guacamole, it must be good in anything Mexican. Beer, salsa, Frida Khalo's underwear....
