My apologies if this information has already appeared here. I learned just today from Peter Stampfel's Facebook page that his longtime musical partner Stephen Weber has died. Many of us may know that their interactions over the years were often contentious, but as one sympathetic commenter observed, "a difficult relationship is still a relationship."

I'll always be grateful that I got to see the two of them perform together in New York City in 1999 (? I think), an epic jam that ended only when one of them broke a string.
