I had some bad news from Croydon Folk Song Club the other day. Les Elvin wrote:

Phil Rampton, RIP:

Just a short note to advise that my brother in law, Phil Rampton, died on 16th April.
He had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's about 4 years ago; this had become progressively worse and caused him to enter hospital where he was found to have contracted Covid-19.
He passed away peacefully in his sleep in the late afternoon.

Phil and I played together a number of years ago and for a while were residents of Croydon Folk Song Club when it met at the Waddon Hotel. He had an enthusiastic and rhythmic guitar style and introduced me to the instrumental 'Anji', which I still attempt today. He also loved blowing blues harp. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, and son, James.

I well remember Phil as an enthusiastic folk singer and a very committed resident singer.
My condolences to all those who know and love him.
