Thread Name: Unidentified Australian song-Mustering Song
Subject: Unidentified Australian song
Several years ago, I recorded a song from an acquaintance who had spent time in the outback of Australia, probably in the 60s. He sang me one particular song which I can't trace. It's about a stockman who goes out with his gang to round up cattle. One cow goes astray and in the pursuit of the cow, he falls, hits his head "against a blue gum tree" and dies. In the next couple of verses, his ghost appears "sitting on the stockyard corner post". The tune is "In and out the Windows" and it has a chorus "Early in the morning etc Just at the break of day,

Any suggestions? I can't make out all the words because of the performer's vigorous melodeon playing.
