Thread Name: ADD: Because She Ain't Built That Way
Subject: Lyr Add: MOLLY AIN'T BUILT THAT WAY (Walsh&Barker)
I found this on Spotify. This singing duo (one of them plays piano) made 11 short films for British Pathé between 1935 and 1941.
MOLLY AIN'T BUILT THAT WAY As recorded by Walsh & Barker on "Vintage British Comedy, Vol. 9" (2011) and "The Classic Comedy Collection 3, Vol. 3" (2011)
Now, I know a gal; she's a marvelous gal, and her mother will tell you so. There's not many things that gal can't do, and nothing this gal don't know.
She can smoke a cigarette; she smokes them night and day, But she can't strike a match on her trousers yet, 'cause Molly ain't built that way. She'll go for a country stroll and romp among the hay, But she never stays there till the last train's gone, 'cause Molly ain't built that way. Ha-ha, ho-ho! There isn't very much that gal don't know. She can swim like mermaids swim; she's marv'lous in the spray, But she can't wag her tail like the mermaids do, 'cause Molly ain't built that way.
Oh eeny-meeny-meeny-meeny-my-o! That'll be enough of that-o!
When the rumba was the craze, she got red-hot, they say, But she cooled down when she tried the split, 'cause Molly ain't built that way. She went riding in the Row for twenty miles(?) one day. Now she breakfasts off the mantle shelf, 'cause Molly ain't built that way. Ha-ha, ho-ho! There isn't very much that gal don't know. She will let you see her home; …(?) will let you stay, But you can't stay there till breakfast—oh, no!—'cause Molly ain't built that way.
[Piano break]
Oh, that dimple in her chin she does love to display, But she doesn't show all of her dimples, no, 'cause Molly ain't built that way. Oh, she'll let nice boys hold her hand without the least dismay, But she never lets nice boys hold her—mm, pocketbook—'cause Molly ain't built that way. Ha-ha, ho-ho! There isn't very much that gal don't know. She has got a little dog; they go for walks each day, But she can't do the things that the little dog does. 'cause Molly ain't built that way.
