I think we can have records of racist songs, and not sing them. A friend here sang a song for several years, before I found the original, and discovered he'd changed some words. It was a damned fine song, with the changed lyrics. But we need to have a record of the original lyrics. Otherwise, it's attempting to sanitize history. As in "No, that never happened, and you can't prove it did." Two different things. Folk songs we sing, and archives of songs we remember.
