Good Morning,

I went to bed last night with Statesboro Blues in my head and woke with the intention of listening to a few versions.
Upon waking this morning I had messages from three woman in my life.
My mother had anger issues, the woman that I loved most had anger issues and the girl that I fostered had anger problems.
The one thing that fuelled the fire when any one of them got angry was when I asked them to calm down.
I got into the habit of leaving without discussing the anger until they were prepared to talk.

The words from the song rang true this morning. 'Turn your lamp down low' is saying calm down, don't be angry. If you continue you'll 'drive a good man from your door.
I don't think that he was telling it to anyone though, I think that he was thinking it and working up the nerve to leave.
