Any relation to 'Darlin, you can't love one'? Without the 2 commonplaces from Lass of Rochroyal there's very little substance to go on, Joe.
Way back in the early 60s before I became acquainted with the British folk scene I delighted in those American paperback compilations with a colourful cover, long disintegrated, but seem to remember several 'darling' songs.
Memory from 60 years ago:
Darling you can't love one Darling you can't love one, You can't love one and have any fun Darling you can't love one.
Incremental verses two, three etc.
Verse 3 similar Gonna roll in my sweet baby's arms Gonna roll in my sweet baby's arms Gonna lay around the track till the mailtrain comes back Gonna roll in my sweet baby's arms.
All very singable and easy to strum a few chords to.
