Just checked my email and found this description of Scoiltrad on my IRTRAD digest:The world's first virtual interactive music school will be launched in early March from West Cork. Scoiltrad will initially offer on line tuition on the main traditional instruments: fiddle, flute, and pipes - with banjo and guitar to follow in the weeks after. The classes will be multimedia based with fully intergrated audio/visual clips of techniques, ornamentation variation etc. There will also be a facility for the students to have access to the teacher for advice and guidance, by sending mp3 recordings of their playing to the teacher for assessment. The teachers involved are Conal O'Grada - flute, Eoin O'Riabhaigh - pipes, and Kevin Glackin - fiddle. It is also envisaged that guest teachers will from time to time be providing lessons.
Sounds pretty interesting -- I hope that the 'tuition' cost won't be prohibitive, though.
