You sure are right, Steve. There are 27 of them now, of which the cream are "The Renovated Basement Tapes". As you know, a few appeared on Rick's Greatest Hits IV, particularly the banjo stylings with the Traumatic Brothers, Happy, Artie, and Dopey. Others include:
1. The Thunder Bay Motor Hotel tape of that old Stan Rogers' favourite, "You Can't Stay Here, But the Hallway is Pretty Dark" from the late 1970s. 2. The "Toronto Sessions" outtakes, including his version of Blind Willie McTell's "I May Be Blind, But You Can Be My Seeing-Eye Woman". Also his great version, long swapped by the cognoscenti, of the Snap, Crackle, Pop song the way the Rev. Gary Davis did it at Newport. 3. Alternative masters from Rick's "I've Been Singing Gospel Songs So Long Jesus is Going To Give Me A Free Pass to Heaven" conversion album. The best cut is the duet reading with William Shatner of the Gospel According to St. Luke. 1 hour and 30 minutes of undiluted, well, gospel! And so on. In stores soon.
