Thread Name: Closure of Folk Festivals
Subject: RE: Closure of Folk Festivals
Howard jones, i kmnow somebody who has still not received a refund for payment of tickets bought from pickering, that is not morally right.
Malcolm Storey, you ran the festival in a business like way.
i am aware that whitby folk club did not take part in the organising of festival events, apart from theclub night during folk week.

in the last 2 years the situation has changed drastically due to the virus, it is doubtful a that entrpreneurs of the pickering kind who have still not repaid a ticket, will have the opportunity to rob people of their ticket money.
Malcolm Storey, please note, the post that initially mentions whitby folk club and whitby folk festival was not from me it was from jack campin
WHITBY FOLK FESTIVAL wad run by EFDSS and graham binless did a good job,and was honest, and in my experience always payed any promised fee, as far as i know Whitby folk club was not involved in organising the festival during his time., or Malcolms.
Malcolm did a good job too, and has stated that whitby folk club was not involved in organising anything other than the folk club night which occurred during the festival, i do recall that booked festival guests were asked to appear as special guests on the folk club night but as far as i am aware Whitby folk club never involved itself in any other aspects of the folk festival organisation. However Whitby folk club was involved as part of the festival in accomodating guest artists from the festival in to their folk club night during folk festival week, but that was the total extent of involvement.
I am not sure [it was a long time ago whether this was during EFDSS OR MALCOLMS time or both] i think it was both.
When the EFDSS ran the festival, i always received any promised expenses.
Malcolm took over the festival and it ran successfully for a long time.
What is far more important is that Pickering have still not paid for a refund of a ticket for their cancelled festival.
